Move over Galaxy S3... the LG Optimus 4X HD P880 has you

I've been a Samsung man for the past few years, ever since the original Galaxy S... but my contract is up end of financial year and I get to chose a new phone.

Just as before, I am doing my homework on phones and this time around, I think I will NOT be purchasing from Sammy's line-up of venerable devices - the great lineup that it is. I may be going for the new LG Optimus 4X HD P880 scheduled to be released in July. Of course, I'm going to have to give the Galaxy S3 a good look-over in person and the LG too before I make any decision - can't base it off web photos and spec sheets.

But while we are talking about web photos and spec sheets which is, to be honest, all we have to go with at the moment, let's dig into that:

SPECIFICATIONS:

The LG Optimus 4X HD appears on paper to be practically on-par with the Galaxy S3. Some specs vary but so many are just matched blow for blow.

Both have a Quad Core processor. LG's runs at 1.5Ghz. Both have ample batteries - the LG sports a 2150mAh battery. LG comes with a 4.7" screen at 720p resolution. Both run Ice Cream Sandy... both have an 8MegaPixel camera. Assisted-GPS. Both can do Telstra's Next-G 850mhz band.

But the LG has a few things, in my personal opinion, that are "over" the Galaxy.

1. The design.
It's subjective, but I prefer the look of the Galaxy S2. The LG seems to be very close in style to the Galaxy S2, probably because LG was "chasing" Samsung when they were designing the phone. Now, LGs offering looks like a knock-off of the Galaxy S2 which is fine by me. I like that look.

The other nice thing I like about the LG is that there are no hardware buttons protruding. It's nice and sleek and the design is very straight-forward and simple. I hate curves. I hate my Nexus too lol that thing is curved like a banana.

2. The display is full RGB IPS - not Pentile. This may or may not be a real issue. I've played with the Galaxy Note and at 720p the screen is absolutely breathtaking.... I didn't even notice any issues when using it. But alas, if I ever decide to put a magnifying glass up to the display I'll rest assured that the rgb layout will hold the image truer to form than the pentile would.

That's about it. As for things like reliability, build quality, I have no idea. Everyone that bought a Galaxy S was in the same boat too, if you remember. Samsung wasn't a real player in the mobile phone game prior to that. Sure they've "had" phones but nothing as aggressive as the S series. This is LGs foray back into the mobile smartphone segment. Yes they've been here before too, with less than stellar devices, but the specs look the part and I'm willing to take the plunge if it feels right in the hand and the UI is snappy and the display looks good.

RB25 Exhaust config

Guys this is a question for anyone who has worked on or owns a 350KW+ car.

I need to know what people are doing exhaust wise at this power level.
I have to fab a new exhaust for my 25, new turbo and manifold setup. Not interested in off the shelf gear.
I'm used to driving the car with a straight through 3" system but looking to go larger, I need the new dump anyway and old system is mild, I will fab new one with 316 stainless, either 3.5 or 4". I want it to perform obviously but its still a part time streeter so would rather keep the noise down if I can for ovious reasons.
I checked out Magnaflow mufflers and can get some oval or round ones with 3.5 and or 4" inlet/outlets so they look good, but has anyone used these? thoughts on best ways to setup mufflers? I wont be running a cat.
Like I said im used to the noise of a straight through 3" system, I just dont want to go and fab a 4" system and it be even louder. I will probably run the two screamers to atmo at this stage so it will get loud, just when I want it too. Can plumb those up when I get sick of it.

If there are better options for my application I dont mind too much about cost I will be welding it up myself, chuck up your ideas.

Hi all,

Ive been hearing alot of different things in regards to different brands for coil-overs and im still up in the air in terms of what to choose.

Currently i have an unknown brand of coil-overs which are still as f**k and are non adjustable. They came with the car when i got it imported.

I will be using the car mainly for street purposes however i do want them to be height adjustable and have dampening capabilities (as i may take it to the track once or twice a year).

Any suggestions for a set of good coil overs for around $1300-1500??

Last weekend was amazing @ Stadium Drift Round 3 - Goulburn NSW.
The result of the weekend was great! Matsuri drifters giving it a go, was great to see awesome effort to the people in tandems and the crisp cars there!

I traveled from the Sunshine Coast Queensland to be apart of Levi Clarke's Team for the weekend and make a small film documentary.

why is my RF wheel moving back n forwards

Hey so I always speed heaps of time searching first but was unsure about this.

So my front wheel right side is moving backwards into the plastic liner in the guard. Had similar problem in my old commadore and it was controll arm bushes. Iv looked under the car nothing looks bend and the suspension setup is a lot different. Any ideas please help.

Anyone know the sizes/Measurements of these rear bushes.

I need to replace one bush on my X81 on my rear knuckle toyota no longer sells being a rare car no one makes a after market bit. after searching yesterday i found on a SPL tech doco some nissan rear knuckle bearing was 36mm in diameter... This being very close to the 38MM i need so just wondering if there was anything out there that was close to fitting that i can steal

Right i dug it out of the cupboard and i forgot how immaculate this is.

It's been re-conditioned prior to my purchase for the project i didn't get off the ground.

comes with braided lines (never installed - i have all the fittings )
Shaft play is fine, turbo spins freely

Would be good for strong HP out of 1.2 to 1.8 ltr project. I bought it with the intention of slapping it on an L Series.

very clean looking unit ceramic blades on compressor are immaculate, ceramic blades on exhaust housing also immaculate.

exhaust housing looks clean and unused.

These wheels WILL work if you have a big f*ck off kit.. Most people dont think 19's look good on S13's, but have a google around and you will find quite a few USDM cars that pull it off quite well, you just need to have a big obtrusive kit like vertex, GP sports, one of those..

Chasing $700, as long as you live near a capital city and can pick them up from a depot i should be able to throw in free shipping..

here's the only photo of them on my 80, as you can see, it looks alright.. obviously if you have another 4 stud car the wheels will also fit on there..

weird boost curve - T25

I have a regular Type X black top with the factory T25 turbo. I put a turbotech boost tee in the system and cranked the boost up to 12 PSI.

When I hit boost in second, from 0 to 5 PSI is how fast it was before the boost increase, but 5-10 is super quick, then it slows back down for the final 2 PSI. The thing is, it doesnt feel like the boost is hitting harder, and the engine sound and revs increase at the linear rate in line with the 'slowness' of 0-5PSI.

mods: apexi pod, stainless manifold, 3" turbo back with bellmouth, HKS SSQV, turbotech boost tee.

Finally the 180 is now a weekend car only. Althought the definiton of weekend car usually means it's either expensive or rare, in this case the 180 doesn't fall into either categories. But I don't know why I just can't seems to sell the piece of shit of a car so instead I want to waste more money into it.
Anyway enough of the rambling.

I know that there are a lot of cars that had been RB conversions before so I just want to know a few things from people who have done it before. Generally how much does it cost for a workshop to do something like a rb26dett?

Probably the most stock 13 you'll see with the aero optional extras! Rear pods, sunroof, aero bar, cupholders! (Driving manuel with a hot coffee between your lap is never fun)

Even had the poo stock 'bash plate' (if you could call it that?) under it! still has the extractor covers and muffler shrouds.. (Only because the bolts are rusted on and i haven't got at it with a grinder yet)

Only thing i could fault was the 'heat exhange pipe' (don't know technical term) had a pin head hole that i got welded back up. That and a odd clutch that im still to look at. Paint isn't perfect but im not worried.

Other then that.. PERFECTION IN CAR FORM!
$2300.. i was jobless and down to my last $3000 but i couldn't not buy it!

PLANS:

Still on the ol' P plates so its de for days. But whilst i wait my turn to come around i want to engine stand an RB25det Obviously get it immaculate before the engine swap and parts together the pieces while im at it. Going to be a slow process but if you're willing to watch and wait, itll be worth a look in

Modifications for near future:

I want it ultimate stocko for now, i love the look for a daily. Clean her up best i can; Respray faded areas and maintain.
Weather shields are a must!
Sooner or later some PBM coilovers and some clean 15/16's (Rota Rb's? Shakotans? Longchamps?)
Shimmed LSD.. simply because i want it there for when the opportunity arises
Roof wing and (Maybe) small duck wing for the boot.
New Vents for Aero bar, mine are cracked

FOR NOW, im a fully sick hardparker.. with a killer engine on standby.

I bought this set of tyres a few months ago for $500. I have another set of semis already and was going to use these when mine wear out.
They have been stored under my house in a cool dry place so are in great condition.

They are Toyo RA1 R compound semi slicks, very similar in grip level to R888s.

2 are brand new, never been driven on (still have the lines drawn on them).
2 have been driven on for ~100km of street driving by the guy I bought them off and are in as new condition.

I need the cash so need to get rid of these.

It currently has a 1.5 way (bitch in car parks), which i am selling to a mate (sorry guys), and i'm looking to put a diff in which will reflect that of one which came stock with the car.
I do not know a great deal about differentials so i have come here for some advice, what sort of differential should i be looking to replace the 1.5way with and where could i buy one of these in the Sydney area?

Hey guys this is my first post here on this forum
A little bit of backround ive been doing an engine conversion of a s14 sr20 n/a motor into a mitsubishi triton for a friend.
Whats got me stumped is that i cant find any information on the ecu and power supplies for the sensors.
I was wonderiong wether anyone would be able to help me out with a complete wiring diagram of the ECU and BCM and car.
The codes on the ECU are as follows: WA 23710 65F00 AI8-000 G60 4412.
Im at my wits ends trying to figure this out hanks in advance.

Thought I'd start up a build thread to track the progress of my new project car as i didn't really manage too
with my first project.

Anyway old project turned out like this;

SR20det drift shitter with all your basic mods to make ~300hp and turn a tyre in anger. I've had the car near on 5 years but its probably only seen a years worth of actual road/track use so i have grown bored of it.

Enter the new rig. It popped up on a local forum, one owner since being imported into Aus and very well priced. It Looked quite clean and I had always wanted to own a convertible. I went for an inspection, car was not as clean as I had hoped but i saw it had huge potential and after I turned on the ignition... it was hard to say no!

And so the new project begins... Current plans are some basic maintenance/mods it requires to be a good healthy street/track car. However, once these issues are sorted the car will be getting baller rims, stance, custom half cage, a decent 350-400hp highmount setup and all the usual support mods a drift car requires.

S15 gktech dump pipe question

Recently bought a Apexi N1 cat back for my s15 sr20det, and then found a gktech dump pipe really cheap and was wondering if the dump pipe would be a straight easy fit? I'm assuming it would be a straight bolt on like I did with my Apexi exhaust.

I'm also unsure how the exhaust system is set up, after the turbo there is the dump pipe? Then the front pipe? Then cat converter? (Yes I know stupid newbie question, tried googling but nothing helped)

Hey guys, just recently bought a Autech. Unfortunately my exhaust has cracked
And I've been looking around for a new exhaust, I have come across someone who is willing to sell me his Kakimoto Regu 06 & R exhaust, which is valued brand new at 1k, which does sound generally expensive. This exhaust is coming of a R33 GTR, and I'm wondering if this is an ideal exhaust for my type of car.

-Apexi AX53B70 turbo in excellent condition with minimal shaft play (p25 rear housing & t3 flanged)

Black centers with polished lip
have a little bit of gutter rash on them
but look amazing
and has all center caps

Not 100% on the rear offsets, but they are staggered (front has higher offset, rears are lower) rears have more dish

Fit real nice on my ceffy guards (poke out front and rear)

Thought I'd get around to making a thread,

I had to create a new account because I can't log in through facebook any more because of "technical difficulties". I'm sure if you want you could figure out who it was.. But I doubt anyone would care..

So anyway, This is my 2000 JDM Nissan Silvia Spec-S SR20DE Auto.

Small "blurb", I purchased this about 2 months ago, and 2 weeks ago had an accident at Southport which was infact my fault. I had third party insurance, and being the age I am, my excess was $1000, so I got a quote for the Camry I hit, and it turned out to be $550, so I just paid the repairs without going through insurance, saves my premiums from going up. Damage to my car was a little more, Bonnet was kinked, so that was $550 for a genuine JDM S15 unpainted/untouched, which I was happy with. Repairs were $1130 for the work including fixing the front bumper (pics included below), but as you can see it didn't sit correctly so it cost another $120 to get it lined up. Also my clear coat was peeling off the roof, so I ended up getting that resprayed for $140.

So all up my little accident was $550 for the other car, and about $2k for my car, which looks better after the accident. least I'm more aware when I drive though..

Anyway the Car, most of the mods were already on the car when I purchased, but of course I've got a list of things I wish to do to her.
